“So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, crying out, ‘Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the Kind of Israel!’ And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written.”John 12:13-14
Happy Palm Sunday! Easter is a week away. In church today we talked about how we have so much unfinished business in our lives. It was one of those “I’m-talking-to-you-Jane” moments. I have struggled recently being patient with things that are undone. There are so many things that are out of my control and so many bridges that I can’t cross yet. Sometimes the answer to prayer is “Wait” or “Not yet.” For me, that can be harder than the answer, “No.”
When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, He had a mission, and they didn’t know it yet, but their waiting would soon be over. Jesus paid the price for the sins of humanity IN FULL. Christ on the cross was ALL-SUFFICIENT for us. There is nothing more that needs to be done. He said, “It is finished!” and I believe that He meant it!!
It is out-of-this-world incredible to be offered this amazing gift that we cannot repay. There is nothing we can do to add to it or take away from it. All we can do it choose to accept it or reject it. I have experienced the amazing hope that comes from accepting His gift. I have learned that my heart can only be truly satisfied by Christ, and not the people and things of this world. I have learned to live a life that is not my own, and realize that I’m here for something greater than myself. And I know that my suffering on this Earth is just for a time, and that one day it will subside, and I will spend eternity with my Savior.
I have experienced a hope and a joy that I HAVE to share! Because of God’s love, I am motivated to love the cashier at Wegmans, the cleaning lady in the dorm bathroom, the guy walking extremely slow in front of me on the way to class, and even the person who cuts me off when I’m driving! I can’t wait to show God’s love to the kids in Romania (47 days!) through my actions and my words. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to help make Him famous!
This YouTube clip leaves me speechless every time I watch it. And to think, it only captures a tiny fraction of who our God is. His character is beyond words and it blows my mind. How wonderful it is that HE wants a relationship with impatient, sarcastic, and selfish Jane. My King didn’t leave any unfinished business in His life, and He wants the same for you and me.
“Death couldn’t handle him, and the grave couldn’t hold Him. That’s my King!”
